About Me…

As a young child I was obsessed with storytelling. Be it books, movies, television, or stories of fancy my father made up I could never get enough. Stories made me feel alive, connected, and accepted. Stories were where I turned in times of stress and times of happiness. Stories made me think.

As a young adult I planned to make them my life. Getting a B.A. and M.A. in film and eventually working in that industry felt like a dream come true. I got to work with giants, run sequences on an Oscar nominated film, and put my blood, sweat and tears into stories for the next generation to enjoy as much as I did.

Then, suddenly, it was all gone.

The market crashed in 2008 and years of experience couldn’t even get me an entry level position. Like everyone else at the time, I floated from job to job barely making ends meet. There were no jobs, no money for bills, just time. Lots and lots of time. Time I filled with stories that kept me going. Escaping into a world so different from my own, trying to figure out what would happen, next kept my brain fresh and active. Stories opened my mind to the possibility of exciting new things.

So when my mother came to me one day and told me about something called Cranial Sacral Therapy, I was intrigued. My brother Bob (who is handicap) had been seeing a cranial sacral therapist for a while and she was teaching a class that was open to practitioners and lay people alike. My brother had seen wonderful results and I was curious but had more time than money. My mother (ever practical and adept at solving problems) suggested that she could pay for the class and I could practice on my brother to repay her. With nothing to lose and a promise to keep an open mind I agreed.

And for the second time as an adult, my life changed. I was introduced to the greatest story ever told - one that never ended, constantly changed, and made me think. The story of the human body.

Though many years have gone by since that time of my chrysalis, my love for the story of the human body has never ceased. I find myself consuming new stories - knowledge passed to me by new teachers, old friends, and from my own practice. Studying how things work and how to invite change now create stories I can pass along.

Knowledge of the human body is a story without end and I can’t wait for the next chapter.
